TUNA 2018 gathers momentum…

Don’t Miss the Opportunity to be in the World Tuna Capital, Bangkok, where the Global Tuna Industry is Gathering!

TUNA 2018, the most awaited convention of world tuna players, is just around the corner. The event continues to gather momentum with registrations pouring in from all quarters of the globe.  We are happy to announce the inauguration of this event by H E Grisada Boonrach, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand who will be joined by H E Patrick Basa, MP, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Papua New Guinea and H E Semi Koroilavesau, Minister of Fisheries, Fiji.

Much has taken place in the global tuna industry since we last met in 2016, at which time we had heralded an era of readjustment and consolidation with special focus on sustainability. This year’s conference programme continues to shine the spotlight on sustainability, and thus participants can look forward to an event enriched by discussions on emerging issues/ trends in the tuna sector including the international fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) and sustainability efforts, blockchain tuna supply pathways, the Brexit impact, ghost gear initiatives, ship-to-shore connectivity for sustainable fishing, tuna farming, gender issues, and impacts of climate change. Further augmenting the programme will be highlights on fishery resource management; industry and market updates; market access and other access issues; environment and eco-labelling issues; and recent innovations and trends in technology. TUNA 2018 will also discuss certification and sustainability efforts at length through a panel discussion. The latest programme is attached for your reference.

With the theme “Braving Challenges: Towards a Traceable and Sustainable Tuna Industry”, the Conference will be chaired by Dr. Transform Aqorau, International Fisheries Law Consultant and joining him as co-Chair will be Dr. Chanintr Chalisarapong, President, Thai Tuna Industry Association (TTIA).  Mr. Luciano Pirovano, Bolton Food Sustainable Development Director as well as Chairman of the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF), will be delivering the Keynote Address.

TUNA 2018, 28-30 May 2018 is unparalleled in that it brings together these speakers and many other prominent leaders, all of whom are coming together to discuss seminal developments in the global tuna industry and the rapidly changing tuna business environment.

And last but not least, do not miss out on the special rates made available for your stay at the Shangri-la Hotel and other Satellite hotels.
